We did not respect FC Goa and paid the price: Vingada

Margao: NorthEast United FC coach Nelo Vingada was far from perturbed at the shocking loss of his team. He was honourable in his praise of FC Goa and said his team lost because they did not respect FC Goa.
“They had 10 men and lots of problems but they fought and won. We should have won the match in the first half itself, but we missed too many chances.And then, we allowed FC Goa to come back into the match in the second half after being reduced to 10-men when we should have actually optimized the advantage,” said Vingada.
“It’s my fault. I threw more attacking men in the second half to press home the advantage but we failed upfront and lost the plot. FC Goa got just three chances in the second half but scored from two of them. Today we took two steps backwards. The morale of the boys is too much down now after the defeat but we will rise,” added Vingada.
“The team is doing well. The boys have worked hard and we had a good game,” said FC Goa captain Laxmikanth Kattimani at the post match press conference.
Talking about his inspiring performance today after a disastrous start to the season, Kattimani said he had put his earlier mistakes behind him and kept focus on the present match.
Talking on the team’s performance and the presence of nine Indian players he fielded in the squad against NorthEast United, Zico said, “It is much better to have more Indian players as it is good for Indian football, adding, “But I don’t look at the nationality. I look at who is playing better in training and field that player for the match.”
He said the boys worked hard, played hard and made the most of the opportunities. “We did miss quite a few scoring chances too,” concluded Zico.
